Brought drugs into Midlands prison

A WOMAN with a long list of previous convictions appeared before last week’s district court in Portlaoise, charged with attempting to bring drugs into the Midlands Prison.

A WOMAN with a long list of previous convictions appeared before last week’s district court in Portlaoise, charged with attempting to bring drugs into the Midlands Prison.

Michelle McCullagh, Apt 4 10 - 12 Upper Clanbrassil Street, Dublin, committed the offence on May 2.

Inspector Aidan Farrelly gave evidence that McCullagh was caught passing to a prisoner two packages, one containing diamorphine valued at €450 and one containing diazepam worth €20.

Insp Farrelly said she had a long list of previous convictions, over 70. The offence was committed while McCullagh was on a suspended sentence.

Judge Catherine Staines sent McCullagh back to the Criminal Courts of Justice on May 23 to deal with the suspended sentence. McCullagh is due back in the district court on July 4 for sentencing.
