A great Bingo is held every Tuesday Night at 8.30 in the Rathdowney Community Centre. Your support would be greatly appreciated. Bingo is run by the Community Centre Group.
The museum has now extended the opening hours for the summer months to facilitate our many visitors, the times are as follows: Mon – Fri 11am to 5pm Sat – Sun & Bank holidays 2pm to 5pm. All welcome.
There was no winner in this week’s jackpot which was €8,050. The numbers drawn were 1, 6, 13, 16. The 10 winners of €15 were Harry Wynne, Joseph Whelan, E Dunne, Mick Maher, Gillian Finane, Sue Ann Hickey, Sean Kelly, Anthony Costigan, Mary Prendagast, Mgt Rafter. Next week’s jackpot will be €8,200. Tickets can be purchased from all shops and any local promoters.
This month’s book is The Mists of Avalon by Marion Zimmer Bradley. The book club meet once a month on a Monday night at 8pm in the Library. The next meeting will be in September.
The Easy Riders will set off on their 2013 charity cycle this Saturday, August 3 from The Square, Rathdowney.
This year’s three day cycle will take them from Rathdowney to Roscommon on day 1, Roscommon to Sligo on Day 2 and from there to Donegal on the final day, covering over 270km.
This year’s chosen charities are the Jack and Jill Foundation, Post Polio Support Group and other local organisations.

Marca includes sports, drama, public speaking, competition nights and much more, it is for everyone not just farmers between the ages of 17 and 35 years.
RATHDOWNEY ERRILL GAA
Our annual race night will be held on August 24 in Thurles greyhound track. Buster tickets are €10 each which includes admission, draw and race card on the night. Children go free. There will be a free raffle after each race for all children that attend on the night. Prizes include sliotars and hurls signed by your favourite Rathdowney/Errill player. Fitzpatrick bus hire will also be available on the night. First race starts at 7.45pm so come early to study form. Anyone who has not purchased a ticket yet can do so from any committee member. Any ticket previously purchased will be valid for the new date.
If you wish to put a note in the Leinster Express please leave it into the Card Stand by Thursday by 5pm.
