Members of Borris in Ossory ICA Guild and their friends visited Clonohill Gardens, Coolrain on Wednesday evening July 24. The ladies were guided around the gardens by the owner Enda Thompson Phelan who pointed out many interesting features, including the woodland area, Jacob’s Walk (named after Enda’s late grandfather ), the Northern garden, the extensive open lawn area and the sheltered walled garden which overlooks the lake. Afterwards she entertained the ladies to tea and refreshments.

Enda’s garden is featured in the current July edition of the Irish Garden magazine and is also part of the Laois Garden Trail. She has held two very successful open days at her garden when large sums of money were raised for the Irish Kidney Association and Laois Hospice Foundation. At the end of the visit the guild presented Enda with a donation to be given to a charity of her choice.
