MEALS ON WHEELS UPDATE

The Meals on Wheels church gate collection will be taken up on the August Bank Holiday weekend, Saturday, 3 and Sunday 4. Your continued support will be much appreciated. Tickets are now on sale for their annual fundraising raffle with €700 in prize money.

The draw will take place in St Joseph’s Hall on Saturday, August 24 commencing at 7pm.

STRADBALLY AND DISTRICT ANGLERS

A general meeting of the Stradbally and District Anglers Association will be held in St Mary’s Hall on Monday, August 12 commencing at 8pm sharp. All members to attend and on the agenda will be the recent worm and fly competitions held at the lake recently.

STRADBALLY STEAM QUEEN

Stradbally Steam Rally are looking for a 2013 Steam Queen. Last year’s winner Emma Brady will be passing on the crown on the August Bank Holiday Weekend at the Stradbally Steam Rally on August 4 and 5. Why not enter to be in with a chance to win a great cash prize.

STRADBALLY FLOWER AND GARDEN CLUB

THE NATIONAL PLOUGHING CHAMPIONSHIPS

The National Ploughing Championships are taking place in Ratheniska from September 24 to 26. If you are interested in providing accommodation for visitors and would like to register with the National Ploughing Association, please contact Jessica at 087 3304539, or npaunregaccom@gmail.com

RAFFLE

A raffle in aid of St Brigid’s Hospital, Shaen (patients comfort fund) will be held in Portarlington Community Centre at a dance on Friday, August 30 at 10pm. Tickets are €2 and your support would be greatly appreciated.

STEAM RALLY

The organisers of the 49th National Steam Rally being held in Stradbally, County Laois on Sunday 4 and Monday 5 August are looking forward to another great event. Admission €10. Children (under 12) free. 10am to 6pm each day.

STRADBALLY ST VINCENT DE PAUL

They are also looking for unwanted items such as good quality ladies and gents summer wear. Their furniture room is also opened in the Boys Old School on the Vicarstown Road, just phone Pascal 087 1359382 and he will arrange a time.

CLOPOOK CEMETERY

Clopook cemetery mass will be held on Thursday, August 1 commencing at 7.30pm.

HOUSEBOUND

The housebound of the parish will be attended to on Friday, August 2.

MARKET SQUARE

Work is to begin on the restoration of the Market House next month. The conservation works are being 75% funded by Laois Partnership, the community and the council are providing the rest. The conservation report was launched by Briah Hayes TD in Cosby Hall recently.
