Thanks to everyone for a huge turn out last Monday for the official turning on of the lights in Rathdowney. All went great a big Thank You to 3 generations of Campion men for all their hard work in putting up the lights. What an achievement for a great family who blush and turn away from any complaints passed. Thanks so much Paddy, David, Oisin and Ben. Thanks also to our local talented singers, the Creagh Family (Margaret, Helen and Michael – who will always be known as the Creaghs) Helen Campion and Charlie Ford who had all the children singing their favourite Christmas Carols at the top of their lungs fair dues to the Beavers leaders – the beavers were so well behaved. A special mention to our fantastic Under 16 and St Fergarl’s hurlers who brought the Silver down to show the children what can be achieved with hard work and dedication – what role models they are. Thanks to all our local businesses who contributed to help pay for the lights and all the people who made a contribution into our collection boxes in the shops and pubs. A big thank you to Mary and Grainne in the Card Stand, who, every year, make up the collection boxes for us without ever having to be asked. Thanks girls – it takes a lot of time and means a lot. We have bought new LED lights this year and they look amazing but we couldn’t do it without your support. Enjoy your Christmas and when you see the lights you can say with pride ‘my few bob helped to put them there’. Well done Rathdowney.
