Well done to the pupils of Tobar an Leinn NS Raheen Tobair who played a big part in the inaugural James Fintan Lalor School held in the Dunamaise Arts Centre, Portlaoise, on Friday 20 and Saturday, September 21. The school launched a book ‘Glimpses of James Fintan Lalor through the Eyes of Children. documenting and celebrating the work of the children of third and fourth clas. The James Fintan Lalor School Committee, in association with the Laois Arts Office, commissioned this wonderful project with Laois writer Ann Egan. The children worked with Ann, re-imagining the writings of James Fintan Lalor by writing thought-provoking letters about to the patriot who was born in Raheen in 1807. The children’s letters make up the publication

Late William Donovan

Condolences to the family of the late William (Billy) Donovan of Colt who died on October 1. Deeply regretted by his loving family, sister-in-law, Kathleen, niece Nora, nephews Dominic, Niall and Séan, neighbours, relatives and friends. Reposed at his home with removal tomorrow to St Brigid’s Church, Shanahoe for requiem mass. Burial afterwards in Raheen Cemetery.

FANCY DRESS FUNDRAISER

A fancy dress party will take place in Eamon A’ Chnoic Raheen on Saturday October 19 in aid of the Irish Cancer Society. Spot prizes for best costume, and a raffle will be held. Admission €5 with all proceeds to Cancer Society. For further information contact Geraldine on 086 3726565.
