This year’s outing is on July 24 to Lismore, Waterford. Bus leaves Clonaslee at 8 am. Total cost is €41.50 per person. Clonaslee Pharmacy is celebrating its first birthday on Saturday July 19 from 1 pm to 3 pm at the Pharmacy. Music, face painting, chocolate fountain, Bumble the play bus, candy cart and special birthday offers. Free giveaways and much more. All welcome to join in the fun.
The recent AGM was attended by 26 members. Following the secretary, treasurer and chairman’s reports, the upcoming drama workshop was discussed. Seven members are going to Gormanstown for a week long workshop. More workshops were discussed. Future plans may include two to three performances in 2014/2015. Outgoing secretary Annette Doolan and treasurer Lorraine O’Keeffe stepped down to give other members a chance to learn the ropes. They were thanked for their hard work. Elections as follows: Chairman, David Brickley; Secretary, Aoife Rosney; Treasurer, John Dunne; Assistant Treasurer, TJ McCann, committee members: Pauline Comerford, Danny Hyland, Tricia Bracken. The committee will meet in August to plan the next performance.

Judged on June 25 at 11:25. Main Street: From Pharmacy onwards to Feery’s Pub evidence of ongoing sweeping at time of judging,few cigarette butts observed on parking area. 19/20. An approach road: From Birr direction very clean overall, grass cut and verges mown. Judges observed plastic cup on kerb line. 19/20. Public area: Car park GAA grounds, some litter, paper wrappers, cigarette butts on kerb line. Fragments in chipping also dog fouling. 18/20. Overall: Great effort being made throughout Clonaslee, painting in progress during judging and sweeping on kerb lines. 20/20. Judge’s comments: Clonaslee was a hive of activity at time of judging. Cleaning and painting was in progress. Unfortunately there were a few areas with litter. Overall the village was very clean. Please keep up your great efforts and spread the word about litter disposal. Dog owners be responsible and pick up. Clonaslee lost out in the final but are runner up in this category.
