WEDDING BELLS

Wedding belles rang out in the Church of the Sacred Heart, Stradbally on Saturday, September 20, 2014 on the occasion of the marriage between Tracie Wall, daughter of Marian and Eddie, Woodview, Stradbally and Damien Murphy, son of Barry and Catherine, Church Lane, Stradbally.

The nuptial mass was performed by Fr Sean Kelly. The bestman was Billy Murphy, while the groomsmen were Raymond Mullally and Tadgh Muldowney. The bride was accompanied by Debbie Wall, Orla Gorman and Abigail Whelan as her bridesmaids and the flowergirl was Anna Murphy.

The reception for 180 guests was held in The Step House Hotel, Borris, Carlow.

STRADBALLY FLOWER AND GARDEN CLUB AGM

Stradbally Flower and Garden Club are holding their AGM on Wednesday, October 1 in St Joseph’s Hall, Stradbally at 8pm.

They will review the past year and are looking forward to a busy 2015.

Hoping to see all members and welcome to new members on the night. Tea and biscuits served.

ELECTRIC PICNIC 2014

Now that the 11th Picnic is over, all feed back from this year’s event, however positive or negative is requested from local residents.

DRAMA CLUB

Stradbally PlayHouse Drama Club for 8 to 12 year olds, starts on Tuesdays from September 30 in St Mary’s Hall.

Free taster session on Tuesday, September 23 at 3.15pm.

DRAMA FOR GROWN UPS

Stradbally PlayHouse drama workshops start back on Wednesdays from October 1 in St Mary’s Hall 7.30 – 9pm.

STRADBALLY ANGLING JUVENILE CLUB

The club are holding a fundraising draw on Saturday, October 25 in Dunnes. There is €1,000 in prize money with the first prize being €400. Tickets now on sale at €2 each. Your support would be greatly appreciated.

MAGICAL EXHIBITION

The Arthouse Gallery, Stradbally will host a magical exhibition in October by a young local artist Gemma Lalor from Portlaoise.

The exhibition will be officially launched on Thursday, October 2 at 6pm by well known musician and songwriter Adela Meally.

IRISH WHEELCHAIR ASSOCIATION

The Irish Wheelchair Association church gate collection held last weekend realised a sum of €640.

Thanks to all the donators and to all the collectors.

CHARITY ANTIQUE AND COLLECTORS FAIR

St Mary’s Hall, Portlaoise on Sunday, September 28 from 10.30am - 5.30pm and all proceeds to Laois Hospice. Furniture, jewellery, books, silver and gold, china and porcelain, paintings and prints, clocks and watches, coins, banknotes, postcards, medals, vintage ware and much more. Admission is €3 and all are welcome.

THE LATE MARY BEHAN

The death occurred on Tuesday, September 16 of Mary Behan (nee Whelan), Brackna, Castlemitchell. Her remains were reposing at her daughter Caroline’s residence in Castlemitchell until removal on Thursday morning to St Michael’s Parish Church, Athy for requiem mass at 11am. Burial took place afterwards in St Michael’s Cemetery, Athy.
