Enrolment for Emo Community Text Alert is taking place. Your area coordinator will be calling to you in the next few weeks with details of the network and how it works. A fee of €30 is payable that hopefully will cover three years running costs. The closing date to join is fixed for May 1.

Clean up Laois

Clean Up Laois Week runs from 20 – 24 April. Request it at registration. Deadline is Wednesday 15 April.

O’Dempsey’s GAA Run

Run Killenard O’Dempsey’s GAA proudly announce their 3rd Annual 6K & 10K Run on May 9. Exciting changes this year that include Chip Timing for both races. Great prizes as always with plenty of goodies after the race.

Results 13/04/2015; Nos drawn 06, 10, 11, 22. No Jackpot winner this week. Match 3 winners were Alan Hanway, Phil Donoher, Mick McNamara. Promoter Helen Whelehan Next weeks jackpot €5,400. Tickets €2 each from any committee member.


Condolences to the family of the late Maura Fennelly Griffith Lawns, Dublin / Cork / Emo, Laois who died on April 9 in her 93rd year, peacefully in the loving care of the staff of Oakdale Nursing Home, Portarlington Co. Laois, surrounded by her loving family. Predeceased by her brothers Tom, Mick, Jim and Fr Vincent and by her sister Phyl. Deeply regretted extended family, neighbours and her many friends. Repose at the residence of Emer Fennelly, Tinnakill, Portarlington. Removal to St Paul’s Church, Emo for Requiem Mass with burial in the new cemetery, Emo. Donations to The Regina Coeli Hostel, Dublin 7, or The Society of St. Vincent De Paul.


Condolences to the family of the late Alice Luttrell (née Scully (formerly Brophy) of Vicarstown who died in her 90th year peacefully in the care of Drominin Nursing Home Stradbally on April 14. Deeply regretted by her loving husband Sean, sons, Joe, Sean, Francis, Jim and Simon, daughters Ann, Peg, Mary, Julia, Agnes and Pauline, extended family, relatives, friends. Reposed at her daughter Julia (Lewis) residence. Removal to the Church of the Assumption, Vicarstown for Requiem Mass. Funeral afterwards to Moyanna Cemetery.
