Clean Up Laois Week runs all this week, from 20 – 24 April. This year, groups are also invited to submit before and after pictures of their hard work for inclusion in Council’s new Litter Management Plan, due for publication later on this year. Photographs can be submitted to email@example.com
BOG LANE CLEAN UP
There will be a clean up of Bog Lane, Bay Road, Lower Forest on Tuesday April 21, for the benefit of turf cutters and country walkers. All help appreciated. We will meet at 11am at Dan Reddin’s farm. ST PAUL’S PARISH SALE
This sale is on Saturday April 25 from 10.30am to 1pm in the Old School, Pearse St. There will be the usual great stalls, tea, coffee and a raffle. Your support would be much appreciated.
GAA SCOR NA PAISTÍ
Scor na Paistí will be in Mountmellick Arts Centre on Saturday April 25 at 3pm. If you can sing, dance, play music in traditional style or tell a story or poem in Irish or English please come along. This is a free event open to all primary school children who are members of the GAA. You represent your club.
Entries for the Laois Fleadh, which is on the weekend of the June Bank Holiday in Portlaoise will be taken at the desk at class this Tuesday April 21. It is fun to take part and maybe even an opportunity to represent Mountmellick and Laois at the Leinster Fleadh in July in Maynooth. It is €2 entry per person for each competition - individual, duet or trio. All Grupai Cheoil and Ceilí Bands are paid for by the Branch.
The monthly social dance is on Saturday April 25 in the Owenass Hall from 9.30pm to 12.30am with music by Dermot Lyons. Refreshments served. All welcome.
CAMERA CLUB EXHIBITION
All are welcome to view the Camera Club’s exhibition in the library which continues for the month of April.
The library knitting/crochet group meets each Tuesday from 10.30am to 12.30pm. Bring along your needles and wool and join us for a cuppa and a chat.

DARKNESS INTO LIGHT
The Darkness into Light 5k walk for Pieta House takes place on Saturday May 9 at 4.15am starting from Mountmellick GAA Club.
Our next meeting is on Wednesday April 22 in the MDA at 10.30 am when we will host an interesting guest speaker. Two of our members will be attending the AGM in Slieve Russell Hotel, Ballyconnell, Cavan on April 22.
Activities: Mondays: Boccia in the Macra hall at 7.30pm. Tuesdays: aqua aerobics in Portlaoise Leisure Centre at noon (free bus from MDA at 11.15am). Thursdays: music and song in St. Vincent’s Hospital. Other games - skittles, flisk, lobbers on Friday nights in the Macra Hall from 7.30pm to8.30 pm and we look forward to a good attendance to prepare for our annual sports day in DCU in June. CÓR AN TSAMHRAIDH

Vocalese in concert
As part of Laois Bealtaine festival, Mountmellick Library will host Singing group Vocalese on Wednesday morning May 13, 11am to 12noon, as they present their exquisite vocal harmony for all to enjoy, singing a selection from Carol King to Sting.
