Borris-In-Ossory Community Development (Tidy Towns) Assocciation will hold a novel Fundraiser on Saturday, July 11 in aid of the upkeep and Deveopment of our local areas. It will be a Summer Fun Drive/Cycle/Run/Walk. All Vehicles are more than welcome. Cars, Lorries, Tractors and Vintage Vehicles. This is the first major fundraising drive for 2015. With a lot of grass areas to be maintained, shrubs, flowers to be planted and many more jobs to be done, finance of these works is, to put it mildly, under pressure. So it is hoped for a large turnout of local people. Every house has to be represented in some form, in your vehicle, bicycle or on foot! The event will commencing at 2pm from the Church Carpark. Refreshments will be provided afterwards at St Josephs School Hall. A Cake Sale will take place in St Joseph’s School Hall at 3.30pm.

A Memorial tree in honour of Jack Fahey will be planted by the Fahey family at St Canice’s Church grounds at 4pm.

There will be a prize for the person who can guess the make and model of the Crushed car with all its identification features removed. Many Stewards and helpers will be needed throughout the day and if you would like to help, please give your names to any of the following Co-Ordinators, General Stewards and Parking – David Fitzpatrick/Canice Sheeran, Cake Sale – Kay Dowling/Noreen Whelan, Catering – Angela Kirwan. The day will conclude with a Celebration Barn Dance (No cover Charge) on the night at Kellys Bar at 10pm till late! Music will be provided by ‘DIVA’. Raffle and food on the night. Borris-in-Ossory Social Services annual tour took place on Wednesday June 24. A full coach travelled to Newgrange Stone Age monument, Co. Meath with a stop for refreshments on route at Bewleys Hotel, Dublin and back to the Gandon Inn for evening meal, followed by a sing song and entertainment. Thanks is extended to Sr. Regina, Nan O’Brien and Marian Carey who organised the outing, to the bus driver Ger Conroy and to the Parish Priest Fr. Jackie Robinson who travelled on the outing with the group.


The annual Church gate collection in aid of Borris-in-Ossory Social Services will take place on Saturday and Sunday July 11 and 12. Proceeds from this collection go towards the services provided by the committee.


The next meeting of Borris in Ossory ICA Guild will take place in St Canice’s Hall on Wednesday July 1 at 8pm. A guest speaker will be present and the Federation President and Vice President will also attend the meeting. All are welcome.


The Cemetery Mass and Blessing of graves in Kyle Cemetery will take place on Thursday evening July 2 at 7.30pm.
