This is being held in conjunction with Durrow Scarecrow Festival. Throughout the festival the art exhibition will be on display in the community hall. The exhibition will be open daily to Monday August 6 between 2pm and 5pm. Appointments can be made for visiting groups outside of opening hours. Durrow Community Council is anxious to set up a support network for the elderly in our community. Volunteer names are required as soon as possible. Please contact Pat 0868096693 or Debbie 0874192077 if you would like to volunteer. The annual day trip is due to take place on Saturday September 1. the trip will be to New Ross Co. Wexford and will include a river cruise where lunch will be served and then on to a guided tour of the Dunbrody Famine Ship. The bus will leave at 10am and return after 6pm. Places on the tour are filling up quickly and as they are limited it is advisable to book now. €20 per person is required when booking and this will guarantee your place. Durrow Development Forum present an evening with flowers in Castle Durrow starting with a walk in Castle Durrow Gardens with resident gardener Bart from 7pm and followed by a flower demonstration at 8pm with Oliver and Martin Lawlor on Wednesday August 1. Entry fee €8.

The Hawthorn Social Club are holding their monthly dance on Wednesday August 1, in the Hawthorn Lounge in Ballacolla. Resident band will provide the music and a great night is assured.


The annual graveyard mass in Durrow Cemetery will be held on Tuesday August 7, at 7pm. Everyone who has family buried in this graveyard are asked to make sure their graves are cleaned up prior to the mass.


South Laois Tourism in conjunction with Durrow Scarecrow Festival will hold a family fun cycle on Saturday August 4 starting at the square Durrow at 11am. Distance 13k and 5k.


The Woodenbridge Paddlers will hold a juvenile canoe regatta in conjunction with Durrow Scarecrow Festival on Sunday August 5 starting 6pm at the old bridge Durrow. Competitions will be held for under 11 years [short cource] and under 13 and 16s [long cource]. Trophies for each catogory. For information and to register contact Michael G Phelan 0872395357.

Learn how to draw Irish wildlife with author and illustrator Gordon Darcy. Workshops for children aged from eight to 12 years. Booking required. This takes place in Durrow Library on Friday August 24 at 11am.
