OSSORY CYCLING CLUB
Last Thursday night was the second last stage of the Cahill cycling league. A group of cyclist travelled to Carlow to take on the 50K course. The pace was quite fast throughout the race. Osssory cyclist did quite well with Willie Alyward finishing in fifth place followed by David Hyde, Harry Hoare, Terence Smeaton. Other cyclists who took part, Seamus Kavanagh DNF and Derek Ryan DNF. The final stage takes place in Mondello Park Thursday night at 7.30pm. On Sunday Derek Byrne travelled to Clare to take part in the A3 Road race. Derek only needed 4 points from this race to be promoted to the A2 division. He finished in third place to gain that promotion. This now allows him to compete in Tour of Ireland cycling Races for 2013. We at the club wish Derek well with his winter training in preparation for this wonderful event. Also on Sunday three of our cyclist Donal Ryan, David Moynan and Terence Smeaton travelled to Birr to take part in the 115K Sportive which took in Wolftrap Hill in the Slieve Bloom Mountains. Ossory Cycling Club would like to wish the Easy Riders charity cyclists the best of luck on their great cycling challenge to Achill at the weekend.
If you wish to put a note in the Leinster Express please leave it into the Card Stand by Sunday at 5pm.
