Abbeyleix Hockey club would like to thank all who supported their annual coffee morning and Christmas raffle fundraiser held recently. Proceeds go towards new equipment, pitch rental and travel costs. Best wishes for the Christmas season to all players, coaches, parents, committee and supporters who helped make 2012 a very successful year. It’s been a fantastic year for all involved both on and off the pitch.
It is our 20th St Stephen’s Day Walk in aid of Laois Hospice, there is a long walk (10miles) and a short walk (3miles approx) in the Slieve Blooms. The walk will leave The Community Centre Clonaslee at 12noon. Sponsopship cards are available from Sheila Bourke on 05786 48084.

Condolences to the family of the late Evelyn Whelan, (née Carey) of Craddock Hse. Nursing Home, Naas, and late of Rushboro, Abbeyleix who passed away peacefully in the loving care of Craddock House Nursing Home on Thursday, December 13. Wife of the late Charles, Evelyn is deeply regretted by her sons, Paul, Richard, John, Barry and Dermot, daughters Mary, Evelyn, Elizabeth, brother Austin extended family, relatives and friends. Reposing in Craddock Hse with removal to the Church of the Most Holy Rosary, Abbeyleix for funeral mass afterwards to Mount Saint Laurence (Extension), Limerick. Donations if desired to Craddock Hse. LATE JOHN CONROY
Condolences to the family of the late John Conroy of Rathmoyle, Abbeyleix who passed away on December 11 at the Regional Hospital, Portlaoise. Deeply regretted by his loving wife Sadie, sons Frank, Pat and Mick, daughters Maree (Kavanagh), Pauline (Marum), Patricia (Sullivan), Frances (Quade), Jackie (Costigan) and Sandra (Foyle), extended family, relatives and friends. Reposed at his daughter Maree Kavanagh’s residence with removal to the Church of the Most Holy Rosary for Requiem Mass. Interment afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.
