There was a very good attendance at the above meeting on Tuesday night last. All the usual precautions were to the fore. All vans and cars in the area if they look suspecious, report them. Trim hedges/shrubs around your house as it makes the burglars more vulnerable if houses are not to sheltered. Burglars don’t like lighting, there fore use lighting, sensor or otherwise. If you need further information contact the crime prevention officer at Portlaoise office on 0578674100
Mass was celebrated in Killanure Church on wednesday of this week to celebrate Grandparents day by P.P Very Rev Fr. Lalor. Afterwards there was refreshments in the school and all had a lovely evening. School is now a very sociable place and children are so much happier and that is a big plus.
Sean & Kathleen Kennedy celebrated their “Golden Wedding” with Mass celebrated by by Fr. Lalor and he was joined by Fr. Martin Delaney PP in Rathdowney. The church was packed to capacity with family and friends coming from all over. Their family took a very active part in all aspects of the Mass, reading the lessons, reciting prayers of the Faithful, carrying up the gifts etc.
The Sacred music was supplied by Martin Delaney and Camross Ceoltais. Sean and Kathleen have five children John Joe, Michael, Seamus, Mary & Olivia. They have seven Grandchildren, all living local. Afterwards they all came to the Camross Inn where refreshments were served and music and dancing galore.
The next community dance will be on Saturday night, March 2 at 9pm in the Community hall. Music on the night will be provided by “Checkers”.
Hip Hop dance competition
Local Camross girls place 4th in Irish Hip Hop idol. Five local girls from S.M’s School of Dance competed in their first Hip Hop Competition in Dublin last December. Breakthru Hip Hop Crew from the dance school competed in the first timers category and placed 4th in Irish Hip Hop Idol.
This was a big achievement for the local girls as only two of them had danced in a hip hop competition before. They were the only Crew to represent the Midlands in this competition.
Breakthru Hip Hop Crew competition line up was Megan Reilly, Jessica Lally, Kara Moore, Samantha Cuddy and Evelina Petrovska. Current Members of the crew are Jade Quarney, Fiona and Andrea Scully, Kara Moore, Samantha Cuddy and Jessica Lally.
Breakthru Hip Hop Crew are constantly training for upcoming events; the next being Irish Hip Hop Crew Championships. Sonya, Director and teacher of the school said she was very proud of them and delighted of their achievement.
