Medley Day is being organised in conjunction with the Gathering initiative this year. The committee are appealing to all local people with relatives abroad to invite them back to the village for the annual day out. We hope to have a lot of the olden stalls back on the Green this year.

The committee are hopeful that local people will get involved again this year and make the day better for all.

A proposal was mentioned to hold a donkey derby to mirror the famous races of old. So please contact those overseas and encourage them to return on the weekend of June 15/16. Another meeting will be held in early March. Please get involved this year, the more input the better it will be.

Met last week, spoke about St Patrick’s Day parade and also the upcoming disco in Castletown.


The club are currently selling the annual county board tickets, which go towards the running of the club. Your help and support is very much welcomed. There is a players meeting this Friday evening at 8.30pm in the field, all players to attend.


There is a proposal at the last hall meeting to renovate the kitchen in the hall, the committee are setting about to collect funds from each household to assist in the renovations. The kitchen in the hall is used by all and has served the community well for nearly 25 years, if households could spare any money it would be very much appreciated.


The month of February is enrollment month for the forthcoming year, please contact Ann at the school.


The Dysart Group meet in Timahoe March 19 at 8pm in St Brigids Hall.

The Laois Federation arts and craft day, that was scheduled for April 20 in Castletown has been postponed, new date for same to be arranged. Crafts classes on going on Wednesday evenings at 8pm, all welcome.
