MASS FOR LENT

There will be Mass at 7.30pm in St Canice’s Church, Borris in Ossory every evening during Lent. There will be no morning Mass except on Saturday mornings at the usual time of 10am.

PILGRIMAGE TO LOURDES

The Ossory Diocesan Pilgrimage to Lourdes will take place from May 22 to May 27. Bookings can be made by contacting Eleanor at Glenmore@ossory.ie or by phoning 051-880414 weekdays except Wednesday from 10.30am to 2.30pm. the fare is €735 including the bus to and from the airport.

WOMENS WALKING GROUP

The Borris in Ossory Womens Walking Group are holding their registration night for this year’s Flora Womens Mini Marathon in Dublin in St Canice’s Hall on Tuesday, March 5 from 7.30 - 8.30pm. Cost of registration this year is €18 for walkers, joggers and runners. Registration forms will be available on the night.

ICA RAFFLE

Borris in Ossory ICA guild’s annual fundraising raffle will take place on Wednesday March 27. There will be numerous prizes and tickets are now on sale from all the members.

ICA TRIP

Borris in Ossory ICA guild’s annual trip will take place from Sunday, July 14 to Thursday, July 18. Staying in a four star hotel in Cardiff and the trip will take in many places of interest. The cost is €385 which includes coach with guide and ferry. Names and deposits of €100 should be given to Lily Sheeran as soon as possible. TENNIS CLUB.

A short committee meeting of the Tennis Club will take place next Thursday, February 28 at 8.pm. in the F.A.S. office. The main item on the agenda is the nomination of trustees to the property.

COURTHOUSE RESTORATION

It is now some time since the project to restore the Courthouse in Borris in Ossory was first mooted. A committee meeting will take place on Thursday, February 28 at 8.30 pm in the FAS office. The up-to-date position will be the main item for discussion

COUNTRY MARKETS

Borris-In-Ossory Country Markets takes place each Saturday in St Canice’s Hall from 10.30am to 1.30pm, with a wide variety of produce, home baking, jam, vegetables etc.

SENIOR CITIZENS PARTY

The annual parish Senior Citizens Party, organised by Borris-In-Ossory Social Services will be held on Sunday, March 3 in the PE Hall at St Joseph’s National School, Borris-In-Ossory. The party will start at 12.30pm with lunch being served at 1pm. All Senior Citizens in the parish are invited to this party.

MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS GAME

The annual 25 card game in aid of Multiple Sclerosis will take place on Thursday, March 7 in the O’Brien Hall at 9pm. This worthy cause can be supported by buying a ticket, giving a donation or sponsoring a raffle prize on the night. Tickets at €10 will be on sale for this event. BADMINTON

Badminton continues every Wednesday night in the school PE Hall between 7.30pm and 10.30pm. New members welcome.

Juvenile GAA

The u8’s will start there indoor training on Friday March 1 in the hall in Ballacolla from 7-8pm. Registration for the u8’s only will also take place.
