The local community alert in the Borris-in-Ossory area recently reformed with a committee made up of old and new members. Old signs are being replaced with bright new ones. A real sign of things to come.
A public meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, July 24 next in St Josephs School at 8.30pm where the text alert system will be launched. Representatives from An Garda Siochana and Muintir na Tíre will attend and address the meeting.
The Annual Social Services outing took place on Wednesday July 10. The day began with Mass celebrated by Rev Fr. Jackie Robinson, who then travelled with the group of over fifty people in brilliant sunshine. First stop was Castlecomer Discovery Park for morning coffee, followed by a viewing of the Coal Mining Exhibition, the craft exhibition and a stroll in the beautiful grounds.
Then it was on to the Chocolate Garden in Tullow, Co Carlow.
This is a chocolate lover’s paradise and after a very informative talk on chocolate making everyone got a chance to make and decorate their own novelty chocolate bar.
Next was a visit to Rathwood Gift and Garden Centre, Co Carlow and the group then returned to the Castle Arms Hotel, Durrow for an evening meal. Thanks is extended to Marian Carey, Nan O’Brien, Sr. Regina, Noreen Hanrahan and all the Social Services Committee for organising such a great day out.
