Lotto

The parish lotto with a jackpot of €10,250 was not won on September 16, 2013. Winners of the small draw were €30 Jim Dwyer, €25 Lorraine Lawlor and €20 Mary Murphy. The lotto of Monday night September 23 will be held in Peadar’s Bar with a possible jackpot of €10,550. All tickets must be handed in before 9.30 pm on the night of the draw to be included in that jackpot.

DURROW CREDIT UNION

Revised Opening Hours from Tuesday October 1. Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays 10 am to 1 pm and 2 pm to 4 pm. Fridays 10 am to 1 pm and 2 pm to 6 pm. Please note the Credit Union will now close at 6 pm on Fridays.

Whist Drive

The Killermogh parish whist drives will resume on Thursday September 26,2013 at 8.30 pm in the Parocial Hall, Cork Road, Durrow. We look forward to seeing all our card playing friends there on the night. All card players are welcome  

Fishing

Durrow /Cullohill parish anglers held a trout fishing competition for the Mick Monahan Memorial cup on September 15, 2013 winner was Seamus Stapleton, 2nd Declan McDonald, 3rd Pat Dunphy. Next competition will be for trout fishing and it will be on Sunday September 29,2013 for the Paddy Holohan Memorial Cup.

Pilates

A new session of pilates classes will commence in the Castle Arms Hotel on Tuesday night September 10, 2013 from 8pm to 9pm. This is a ten week session and it costs 80 euro. Places are limited and booking is essential. For more details contact Margaret on 086 8547710.

VITA - THANK YOU

VITA, Friends of Fr Doheny would like to sincerely thank all those involved in the annual fund-raising walk/run on August 9th. 
There was a great turn out of walkers and runners on the night. Local celebrities Mem Dunphy and Miss Kilkeeny kicked off the event and refreshments and entertainment rounded off the evening. Vita continues to support community based sustainable project in Ethiopia, further information can be seen www.vita.ie.

PILATES

Pilates classes have started since Monday September 16, in Clontubrid outside Freshford. Teenage beginner class at 5.30 pm and Teenager Improvers at 6.30 pm on Mondays. Men’s class begins 7 pm on Tuesday and Ladies Beginner classes at 8pm on Tuesday, 7pm on Wednesday and 11.15 on Friday. Improvers / Intermediate class is on Wednesday at 8.15 pm. If there is a demand for Pre and Post Natal classes they will be arranged. Please contact 086 6611163 to book a place.

Community Hall

Durrow Community Hall has Taekwondo and Hapkido, for fitness, toning up muscles, building confidence, feeling strong and self defence. Every Monday and Wednesday night from 7.45pm to 8.45pm in the hall. For more information contact 086 8359333.

Late Peter COE

Condolences to the family of the late Peter Coe of 42 Derrywood, Durrow and Monasterevin who passed away on September 16. Beloved husband of Helen he is deeply regretted by his loving wife, son Geoff, daughter Julie, mother Doris, brother, sisters, extended family, relatives and friends. Reposed at his residence with removal to St John’s Church, Monasterevan for service. Cremation afterwards in Newlands Cross.

Laois connects Cookery Demo

A healthy Food for a Healthy Mind talk and cookery demonstration will take place in respond Community Centre in Abbeyleix on Wednesday October 2 from 10.30am as part of Laois Connects. Kidney Assoc Sale

The Laois Branch of the Irish Kidney Association is holding a fundraising sale on October 3/4/5 at Bull Lane Portlaoise. All proceeds go to the IKA in Laois to help local patients.
