The parish lotto with a jackpot of €10,150 was not won on September 09. Winners of the small draw were €30 Frank Brennan, €25 Helen Mooney and €20 Helen Muldowney. The lotto of Monday night September 16 will be held in Dec’s Bar with a possible jackpot of €10,400. All tickets must be handed in before 9.30pm on the night of the draw to be included in that jackpot.


A new session of Pilates classes will commence in the Castle Arms Hotel on Tuesday night September 10, 2013 from 8pm to 9pm. This is a ten week session and it costs 80 euro. Places are limited and booking is essential. For more details contact Margaret on 086 -8547710.

St Padre Pio

Durrow Community Services are looking for people to work as General Operatives and in Meals on Wheels. Please contact the local FAS office for details as soon as possible


The AGM will take place on Thursday, September 19 at 8.30pm in Durrow Library (former Courthouse). Everyone is invited and encouraged to attend.


Revised Opening Hours from Tuesday October 1. Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays 10am to 1pm and 2pm to 4pm. Fridays 10am to 1pm and 2pm to 6pm. Please Note the Credit Union will now close at 6pm on Fridays.


VITA, Friends of Fr Doheny would like to sincerely thank all those involved in the annual fund-raising walk/run on August 9th. 
There was a great turn out of walkers and runners on the night. Local celebrities Mem Dunphy and Miss Kilkeeny kicked off the event and refreshments and entertainment rounded off the evening. Vita continues to support community based sustainable project in Ethiopia, further information can be seen www.vita.ie.

Late Johnny Conory

Sympathy is extended to the family of the Late Johnny Conory, Galesquarter, Cullohill and formerly of Patrick Street, Durrow who died on September 02 at the Regional Hospital, Portlaoise, following an illness. He was eighty years of age, Johnny spent his early years working for Joe Brophy, Sand and Gravel which was taken over by Readymix Ltd, where Johnny worked as a sales representative for over thirty years. Johnny had many interest including he was a D. J. on Laois Community Radio in the eighties, his other interests were Photography, Gardening, the Irish Language and History. He is mourned by his nephew Michael, niece Aileen , sister-in-law Bridget, his late brother Paul and his nieces Paula and Aoife, relatives and friends. The large attendance at his wake, removal, requiem mass and burial was a testament to the high esteem that Johnny was held within the community. His remains were removed from Phelan’s Funeral Home to the church of the Most Holy Trinity, Durrow .Following Requiem Mass Johnny was interned in the adjoining cemetery. “ Ar Dheis De go Raibh a Anam”.


Pilates classes start next week, Monday the 16th September, in Clontubrid outside Freshford. Teenage beginner class at 5.30 pm and Teenager Improvers at 6.30 pm on Mondays. Men’s class begins 7 pm on Tuesday and Ladies Beginner classes at 8.00 pm on Tuesday, 7.00 pm on Wednesday and 11.15 on Friday. Improvers / Intermediate class is on Wednesday at 8.15 pm. If there is a demand for Pre and Post Natal classes they will be arranged. Please contact 086 6611163 to book a place.

Community Hall
