Thank you

Thank you

“We wish to express our deepest and sincerest gratitude for your fraternal concern and loving support to our suffering brothers and sisters in the Philippines. We are deeply touched and most grateful for your concern, prayers and generosity. It was a heart-breaking sight for us to see our Filipino brethren living in unimaginable poverty and unspeakable pain brought upon them by great calamities that devastated our country, leaving them homeless, loss of loved ones, hunger and thirst. We are most grateful that you responded to their cry for help, every loving act and good thing you have done toward our Filipino brethren is most greatly appreciated,” Sr Veronica & Sr Analiza, Poor Clare’s

Our parish in conjunction with St Vincent de Paul have recently set up ‘St Clare’s Hospitality’ to help members of our community who are suffering due to the recession. We are in the process of setting up a kitchen where people can come to get hot meals. In the meantime we are giving out food parcels each Wednesday and for the past few weeks we have given out over 70 parcels a week. We are surviving because of donations, particularly from the St Vincent de Paul and we have a huge number of volunteers helping out. Each parcel contains non-perishable items i.e. porridge, pasta, pasta sauce, soup, baked beans, tins of meat balls, sugar, tea and other items like bread, butter and cheese.

During the four weekends of Advent we will place collection baskets in St Clare’s and Holy Cross. As a way of making the Advent season more meaningful we encourage everyone to reach out to those in need by placing non-perishable food items in the baskets and these will be used to help make up our food parcels.
