World Suicide Prevention Day is looking for your support on Wednesday 10 September. There will be a balloon release and some great music in Carlow Town Park at 8pm on the day followed by refreshments in Graiguec Parish Centre. Proceeds to Lourdes Invalid Fund, Petta House and the Irish Carers Association. Please support.

PARISH CHOIRS

St Clare’s Children’s Choir, practice resumes on Monday 16 September from 4.30pm to 5.30pm in the Parish Centre. The choir is open to all primary school children and first year secondary school students. New members more than welcome. Parish Youth Choir resumes next Saturday, 20 September from 12.45 to 2pm in the Parish Centre. The choir is open to all secondary school students and young adults. Musicians also very welcome.

RAINBOWS GROUP

Graigue/ Killeshin Parish Rainbows Group offers a 14 week Peer Support Programme for children age six plus who have experienced loss through the death of a close relative, separation of their parents or other painful change in their family. The programme will commence early in October and is free to participants. Applications must be returned to the Parish Centre by Wednesday September 24. Contact Anne at 0876636499.

KILLESHIN FC

Recent lotto result were 07, 12, 17 and 30 and there was no winner. The €25 lucky dip winners were Trevor Brennan, Fran Salter, Mary Hickey and E Hickey. The seller’s prize went to Denise McDonald. The Jackpot now stands at €7,200.

It’s the start of the new season and training for ‘A’ and ‘B’ teams has commenced on Monday nights at 7.30pm and new players are very welcome. Whist night that runs on Wednesdays will take a summer break until early September and they would like to take this opportunity to thank all those who supported the whist.

WHIST NIGHT

Killeshin FC Whist Night commencing again on this Wednesday 10 September at 8.30pm in the old den beside Killeshin hall. Entry is only €5 per person and all are welcome. Beginners at 8pm on Wednesday 10 September also. Refreshments served

CHORAL SCHOLARS

A launch/information evening will take place on this Tuesday, September 9 at 8pm in the Cathedral Parish Centre to launch the new “Choral Scholars Programme” initiative by Kildare and Leighlin Diocese in partnership with Music Generation Carlow, offering excellent choral and vocal training to young people ages 15 to 18 years in Choral singing of church music. THURSDAY MORNING CLUB

Thursday Morning Club resumes on this Thursday 04 September after the 10am Mass in St Clare’s. People are invited to come to the Parish Centre for tea or coffee and some friendly chat.

LITURGY OF THE WORD

Sunday school resumes on Sunday 14 September at the 11.30am Mass in St Clare’s. We invite all children aged between Four years to First Class to take part. Our aim is to introduce the children to the Mass by taking part in activities appropriate to their age. These activities will take place in the Parish Centre. The children will be supervised by a team of adults and students from our second level schools.

FUSION F1

Come join and support Jordan Hennessy and his fellow teammates of Fusion F1 Matt Cullen and Tadhg Downey, an F1 in Schools team hailing from Presentation College, Carlow for a weekend Festival of Fun, on Saturday September 13 and Sunday 14 September. The fun will begin on the Saturday with a Coffee Morning, kindly hosted at Siopa Glás, Ballon from 10am to 3pm and will be followed at 8pm by a massive Variety Concert in the Presentation College which will feature a host of local talent and special guest appearances throughout the night. Tickets can be purchased in Presentation College, adults €10 and children €5. The weekend of fun will be rounded off the next day with the “Big Bounce”. This event, sponsored kindly by Scats Bouncing Castles, which will also be held in Presentation College Carlow from 1pm to 6pm with a huge variety of bouncing castles.

USED CLOTHING

Fusion F1 Team, Presentation College Carlow are collecting used clothing, shoes, belts, handbags, linens and household textiles etc. no duvets or pillows, soft toys e.g. Teddies, books are accepted but no schoolbooks either text or copy, magazines or diaries and no household bric a brac. Bags of clothing can be left into the school between Monday 15 and Thursday 18 September during school hours and up until 4pm on Friday 19 September. Where possible please donate at least three plus bags as this really does raise much needed funds for our team. Please keep mobile phones and laptops which must be intact with power lead, in a separate bag. Further details contact 086 055365.

ST CLARE’S

The Food Kitchen still giving out 120 food parcels each week. They would like to thank everyone for their continuous support through food and donations. All food donations can still be left in the food barrels at the church doors or in the parish centre.

YOUNG READERS COURSE

A course for young readers begins on Monday 15 September from 6.30pm to 7.30pm in the Parish Centre and will run for four Monday nights. Any secondary school student who would like to become a reader in our churches are welcome to attend.

Talk it Over, Suicide, Bereavement and Loss Service are having an open information evening in the Seven Oaks Hotel on this Thursday, 11 September at 8pm. Speakers include Conor Cusack (Cork Hurler), Angela Hayes Kilkenny and also a speaker from Pieta House. Remember, Talk it Over are here to listen.
