The Parish lotto jackpot is now heading for €17,750.

On September 1 the jackpot was €17,450 and it was not won.

Small winners were €30 Ester O’Regan, €25 Evelyn Clancy, and €20 Bob and John.

The lotto for September 15 will be in Dec’s Bar with a possible jackpot of €17,750. All tickets must be handed in before 9.30pm on the night of the draw to be included in that jackpot

Fishing

Durrow/Cullohill parish anglers held a trout fishing competition on Sunday for the Pat Gaughan Memorial Cup. Fishing conditions were very good and some lovely fish were weigh-in. Winner was Patrick O’Regan, 2nd Philip Kearney and 3rd Tommy Coffey. The u18 winner was Daniel Brophy. The u14 winner was Conor Clarke, and 2nd was Lee Coffey. The Aware Support Group for people experiencing depression, anxiety, stress and other mood related conditions meets every Tuesday at 7.30pm in St Peter and Paul’s Parish Centre, Portlaoise. Pilates

Kayak and Canoeing

Well done to Calvin O’Brien a member of Laois Kayak and Canoeing Club on his achievements at the European Freestyle Championship last week. His experience of international competition and his training with the Irish squad will now be of huge benefit to his career and also will be an inspiration to all his colleagues in Laois Kayak and Canoeing Club.

Camogie

Congratulations to Louise Mahony on been chosen as Laois Camogie Player of the Decade. An honor truly deserved for her commitment to her club, The Harps, and to her county Laois. Louise has been a super player for her club and has helped in no small way to making her team one of the best in the country and bringing much silverware to the club from both county titles and All-Ireland titles.

Soccer

The Lions Soccer Club recently presented their Player of the Year Awards for 2013/14 to their schoolboy/girls teams.

Well done to the U13 who won the Kilkenny and District League Division 2 title and they were presented with their cup.

CCC Spink

Registration for u18 music classes is on Friday September 12 between 7-8.30pm in Knock Hall, Spink.

All musicians who have instruments on loan from the instrument bank must return the instruments for inspection that evening. Music classes start on Friday September 19 at 7pm in Spink. Looking forward to seeing all members returning, and hopefully many new members joining.

Academy

With the soccer season back in full swing, the Lions soccer academy commences on Sunday September 14 at 11am. This academy session caters for boys born in 2008 and 2009. All welcome. Any queries contact Robbie Dempsey.
