Stradbally Chernobyl Group would like to thank all who supported the candle sale on Easter Saturday. Amount raised was €800. Twenty children will arrive in Stradbally and Portarlington on June 24 for a month’s reast and re-couperation. Many thanks to all in our local community who have made it possible to continue our work over the last 16 years.
FLOWER AND GARDEN CLUB
A committee meeting of the Stradbally Flower and Garden Club will be held on tonight, Tuesday, April 24 in St Josephs Hall commencing at 8pm.
THE LATE MARY RAMSBOTTOM
The death occurred on April 17, 2012 of Mary Ramsbottom, (nee O’Carroll), (Garryglass, Timahoe), peacefully surounded by her loving family. Mary beloved wife to Billy and dearly loved mother to Pat, Mairead, Liam, JJ, Mellow, Patricia, Mary P. and Karol, deeply regretted by her loving family, brother Michael, sisters Brid, Marie-Goretti, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, son-in-law, daughters-in-law, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, neighbours, relatives and friends. Her remains were reposing at her residence until removal on Thursday morning for requiem mass following which her remains were interred in in St Michael’s Church, Timahoe.
MAIN STREET RESIDENTS AGM
The AGM of the Main Street, Stradbally residents will be held on Wednesday, April 25 commencing at 8pm in St Mary’s
Hall. All are welcome to this meeting to help our community to get our town looking well for the summer.
NATIONAL DRAWING DAY
National Drawing Day will take place at The Arthouse and Library, Stradbally, Co Laois on Saturday, May 19 from 11am - 1pm. All ages welcome to a fun and creative morning with participating artists. This is time to embrace your creative side. This is a free workshop but participants are asked to bring a sketch pad and pencils/pens/charcoal

A darts tournament in aid of Multiple Sclerosis Ireland will be held in Ramsbottoms, Stradbally on Saturday, April 28 commencing at 6pm. Raffle tickets €2 with great prizes. DJ Skelly will be playing from 10 pm till late. Please support this very worthy cause.
FULL STEAM AHEAD
The Irish Steam Preservation Society’s narrow gauge railway will have full steam up and running on the May bank holiday weekend, Sunday and Monday 6 and 6 from 1.30pm until 4.30pm at the Cosby Estate, Stradbally.
Thank you to all who donated to Daffodil Day so generously and to the volunteers for selling the daffodils and merchandise on the day. Your support is very much appreciated by the Irish Cancer Society. Thanks also to the local shops for their help in taking the collection boxes. The sum of €2330 was raised.
THE LATE BRIGID MCEVOY
The death occurred on April 14 of Brigid McEvoy, (Coolnabacca, Timahoe) peacefully at her home. Brigid, wife of the late Denis, deeply regretted by her loving sons Johnny and Tim, nephews, nieces, relatives, her wonderful carers, neighbours and friends. Her remains were reposing at her home and removed on Sunday evening to St Michael’s Church, Timahoe and following funeral mass on Monday morning at 11am her remains were interred in St Joseph’s Cemetery, Ballyadams.

Annanough GAA are holding a fundraising table quiz in Creans, Vicarstown on Friday, April 27 commencing at 9.30pm. Tables of 4 - €10 per person. A special fee of €5 per person for all under 18 participants. All support on the night very welcome.
OUR LADYS HOSPITAL FUNDRAISER
A rock music festival in aid of Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin will be held in the Napper Tandy, Stradbally on Sunday May 6 commencing at 2pm. This is a field event with great fun, tug-of-war, football games etc. A day not to be missed your full support would be much appreciated.
CEDF Uganda church gate collection held recently in Stradbally, Timahoe and Vicarstown realised a sum of €927.23. Many thanks to everyone for their generosity.
