FR O CONNOR RESIDENTS

A meeting of the residents of Fr O Connor Crescent will take place on Thursda April 26 at 7.30pm. It is important that a representative from every household attend this meeting.

THE GROTTO RESTORATION COMMITTEE.

The newly formed grotto restoration committee are holding a fundraising table quiz in Eddie Kirwans Pub on Friday May 4 at 9.30pm. A table of 4 persons will cost €20 and all support is greatly appreciated. The grotto restoration committee have set up a bank account for anyone wishing to make a donation towards the restoration and upkeep of the grotto, can do so in the local branch of Bank of Ireland, a/c96042503. Any donations will be greatly appreciated and put to good use.

PROTEST RALLY

Abbeyleix and District Hospital Action Committee are holding a public protest rally on Sunday April 29 at 2pm, commencing at the Manor Hotel. Car parking available on all approach roads with shuttle buses available on the day. Your support would be greatly appreciated.

PARK

Due to the alaming increase of dog fouling in the children’s playground the committee have no option but to ban all dogs as it is a health risk to the community who use the facility. Unfortunately everyone has to suffer because of the people who refuse to clean up after their dog. The table tennis tables are now installed so we would encourage people to come along and use them.

ST FINTAN’S GAA

The numbers drawn for the April 16 were 06, 18, 21, 26. There was no jackpot winner. Next week’s jackpot for April 23 is €8,400. Tickets can be got from any promoter.

OLD TIME DANCING

Every Sunday night in Portlaoise GAA centre from 9.30pm to 11.30pm for only €7. Music will be supplied by Kelly Family this coming Sunday night, April 29.

The numbers drawn for the April 10 draw were 06, 14, 25, 26. The jackpot was not won. Next’s week’s jackpot for the April 24 draw will be for €19,800. Tickets are available from any promoter.

PARISH LOTTO RESULTS

The numbers drawn for this week’s lotto were 05, 16, 21, 22. There was no jackpot winner. There were 12 match 3s who won €84.

MOUNTRATH GARDEN CLUB

Our next meeting will now be on Tuesday May 15 at 8pm in St Fintans Hall. We will have a visit from Carmel McHugh form T&C Gardens in Mountmellick. This month’s competition is an arrangement of wild flowers and/or a flowering shrub. New members and fresh ideas are more than welcome. DAFFODIL DAY

Well done to all of our daffodil sellers in the parish, they did trogan work again this year. Great credit goes to all these people who give of their time travelling around the parish every year and in the town. Certainly their work is much appreciated. Thanks to the Grinsell family Spring Gardens, Nancy Maloney, Shannon Rd, Eileen Fitzpatrick, Roundwood, Bridie Phelan Derrycantan, Joe Delaney Woodwork, Kevin and Miriam Coss, Corrcaun who gave fresh daffodils. Our total of €4,850 is donated to the Irish Cancer Society, again a big thanks to everyone who helped, bought daffodils and badges and also to Mai for her encouragement and help.
