As part of Laois Walks Festival two free trail walking workshops will be held in Rosenallis and Mountrath. If you are interested in finding out about looped walks on trails in your area or further afield, if you would like to know more about suitable walking gear e.g. boots, jackets and rucksacks or if you would like to know about walking groups in the area then come along on Saturday July 7 at 12 noon to Rosenallis Community Centre. This workshop will be followed by a walk at the Ridge of Capard at 2pm. On Saturday July 14 the workshop will be held in the community centre in Mountrath at 12 noon followed by an eco-walk in Monicknew. Sean, Mary and Aisling Dunne would like to sincerely thank the McEvoy family Marguerite, Michelle, Kathleen, Patricia Hughes, Catherine Shelley, and Aisling Moody for funding Philip in running the Women’s Mini Marathon and everyone for their support. We would also like to thank Zona Keating, Alva Keating, Antoinette and John Dromey, Sharon and Vincent Conroy, Michael Keating and Magda and everyone who participated in the cross country horse run they held for Philip.
Sincere thanks to Mrs Noreen Sweeney, principal of Clonaslee Vocational School and all the transition year students who held a cake sale for Philip and to the Clonaslee Comhaltas for their kind donation, it is greatly appreciated by the family.
The event will take place on Sunday July 8. It will start at 6pm at Goode’s pub house. The walk is followed by light refreshments and music after in Goode’s. This year’s tour is to Co Wicklow on Tuesday July 10. The bus will leave the village at 8.30am sharp. Our first stop will Blessington, then on to Glendalough. We will have our lunch in Laragh and then visit Avondale House. We then head to the lovely village of Avoca and Ballykissangel returning to Tougher. Cost is €30.
