As part of Laois Walks Festival two free trail walking workshops will be held in Rosenallis and Mountrath. If you are interested in finding out about looped walks on trails in your area or further afield, if you would like to know more about suitable walking gear e.g. boots, jackets and rucksacks or if you would like to know about walking groups in the area then come along on Saturday July 7 at 12 noon to Rosenallis Community Centre. This workshop will be followed by a walk at the Ridge of Capard at 2pm. On Saturday July 14 the workshop will be held in the community centre in Mountrath at 12 noon followed by an eco-walk in Monicknew. There will be a fly fishing competition for Super Value Cup on Friday night July 6 commencing at 6pm. Weigh-in will be at 12.15am in Durrow Inn. Entries will be taken at Lawlor’s Flower Shop from 5.30 to 7pm. There will be a pike fishing competition on Sunday July 8. For further details contact Pat at 0872651478.
HAWTHORN SOCIAL CLUB
There will be a cabaret and dance in the Hawthorn Lounge Ballacolla on this Wednesday July 4. Resident band playing.
There was no jackpot winner. Small draw winners were: €30 Danny Lennon 25 Noel Kirby 25 Darragh and Oisin Conroy. Next draw for a possible €1300 will be on Monday July 16 in Mark Lennons Bar. Tickets must be handed in by 9.30 on night of draw.
BUS TO KNOCK

PRIDE OF PLACE
With only two more weeks to go until judging it is important that everybody comes out for the clean up nights. All businesses and home owners should make sure that outside their premises is clean and free from litter. With a little effort Durrow should do very well in this competition.
A public meeting regarding Bus Eireann withdrawl from Abbeyleix, Durrow, Cullahill, Johnstown route will be held on Thursday July 5 at 8.30pm in the Castle Arms Hotel Durrow. Recent meetings of steering committee with Bus Eireann and National Transport Authority will be discussed along with the future of the bus service in the area. Public reps will attend.
