The Abbeyleix Bog Project is planning another section of the board walk in 2015, which will continue this loop across the entire bog. It will be open to the entire community to buy their very own metre of Board walk , which will have your own name plaque which you can dedicate to whoever you like . The first Conservation Work Group for 2015 will take place from 10am on Saturday, January 31 in conjunction with IWT Laois/Offaly Branch and Groundwork. The aim of the day will be to sweep an area adjacent to the old railway, remove the smaller and manageable rhododendron saplings and trees, and map the bigger clusters for cutting and removal later on. Abbeyleix Tidy Towns is providing a recycling cage for small electric items such a kettles, toasters and batteries. Items can be dropped into the cages provided at the back of White & O’ Donoghue’s office at Market Sq for collection. Work is also underway on the 2015 Tidy Towns plan.

Condolences to the family of the late Pat Tynan of Bluegate, Killamuck, Abbeyleix, who died on January 16. Deeply regretted by his son Barry, extended family relatives and friends. Reposed at his residence. Removal to The Church Of The Most Holy Rosary, Abbeyleix, Requiem Mass. Interment afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.
