Rathdowney/Errill under 10 training will resume on Wednesday, April 10, in Rathdowney GAA grounds at 6.30pm. Any player who did not make the registration night can do so at training. Membership for the year is €20 for one or €40 for two or more in a family. All new members are more than welcome to come along.


7km walk/run on Sunday, April 14 at 2.30pm start and finish in the GAA grounds. This event is in aid of the Rathdowney Playground Group entry fee is €5, supervised children free of charge. There will also be a shorter 5km route suitable for children, people with pushchairs and prams. Refreshments will be served afterwards. Your support would be appreciated.


Charity cycle launch night will be held in Ian Maher’s on Saturday, April 13, at 9.30pm. This year’s cycle is from Rathdowney to Donegal Town. Packs available on the night. Entertainment by DJ Noel Brennan. All welcome.


On Sunday April 21, the club are holding their second Sportive over 100k and 50K. Starting at the GAA sign on from 9am, 100k starts at 10am, 50k starts at 11am, food stops on both events, entry fee for both events €25 or €20 with Cycling Ireland Licence. Route is Rathdowney GAA centre to Coolfin, Mountrath, The Cut, Clonaslee, Cadamstown, Kinnity, Roscrea, Borris in Ossory and back to the GAA centre in Rathdowney. Fishing competition results from Sunday March 31 for the Patrick White Memorial Cup, 1st Declan Byrne 1500g, 2nd Paddy Fitzpatrick 1320g, 3rd John Holohan 1285g. No Juniors weighed in.


The Laois Branch of the Irish Kidney Association will hold church gate collections on Saturday April 13 and Sunday 14. You support is greatly appreciated and benefits Laois patients with kidney disease.

The total amount raised in the Rathdowney/Errill area for the Irish Cancer Society on Daffodil Day was €3,500. The organisers wish to thank all who made this another successful year.
