Ceoltoiri Na nOg Music Classes commence on Friday, August 30 at 8pm & Saturday, August 31 at 10am. Beginners very welcome. Pupils who sat their SCT Music Grade exam will be presented with certificates at an afternoon concert in the Dunamaise Theatre on Saturday, September 14 at 2pm. The All-Ireland Ratheniska Marching Band together with all Ireland musicians, singers & dancers will perform.

A Harvest Thanksgiving Mass takes place at SS Peter & Paul’s Church on Saturday, September 14 at 6.30pm.
On Friday September 6 the 10am Mass will be offered to honour the life of the Blessed Mother Teresa. A blessing with a relic will take place after Mass.
Laois 10 km
Run, jog or walk in the Laois 10k for the Carers Association supported by the Leinster Express. Everybody is invited to sign up to the event which takes place on Sunday, September 15. The race starts at the Maldron Hotel at 12 noon. All funds go to delivering support services carers in Laois & Offaly.
There was no winner of the Portlaoise Parish lotto jackpot when numbers were drawn on August 22. Numbers: 16,20,28,31. The 8 match 3 winners won €125 each. This week’s jackpot is €20,000.

Farewell to Portlaoise Parish curate Fr Kevin Walsh who departs Portlaoise Parish on October 1. After an active few years in Portlaoise, the Kildare native leaves for the parish of Naas/Sallins/Two-mile-house. Fr Kevin is replaced by Abbeyleix native Rev Eddie Lalor of the St Patrick’s Missionary Society (the Kiltegan Fathers) who has served on the missions in Africa for many years.
