this book for the summer read is The Mists of Avalon by Marion Zimmer Bradley. The book club meet once a month on a Monday night at 8pm in the Library. The next meeting will be Monday 2, September, it is a good time for new members to join for the months join.

Darts for charity
On July 13 a darts exhibtion with Wayne Mardle took place in Ray’s Bar in Errill in aid of the Coombe Hospital in Dublin, Wayne threw against 17 local throwers with only one getting the better of him. The organisers would like to thank all the sponsors and Ray Kelly for the use of his premises, Laura Kinsella and Stephen Delaney for ticket sales and Barry Bowe who organised the event and all who helped out with the bag packing to bring in a total sum raised €2,475.

There was no winner in this week’s jackpot which was €8,650. The numbers drawn were 3, 11, 12, 17. Condolences to the family of the late John Feeley of Rathdowney and Portlaoise who died on August 19 unexpectedly. John is deeply regretted by his family, relatives and friends. Late michael Whelan
Condolences to the family of the late Michael Whelan of Cuan Bhríde, Rathdowney who died on August 16. Deeply regretted by his family, relatives and friends.
