The parish lotto with a jackpot of 11,150 euro was not won on October 28, 2013. Winners of the small draw were 30 euro the Mary Townsend, 25 euro Aisling Phelan and 20 euro Lucy Alley. The lotto of November 11 will be held in Dec’s Bar, Durrow with a possible Jackpot of 11,450 euro. All tickets must be handed in before 9.30 pm on the night of the draw to be included in that jackpot
Cullohill born and raised Celebrity Chief from the Ballymaloe Cookery School, Darina Allen and Rory O’Connell will give a cookery master class in the Manor Hotel, Abbeyleix on Thursday November 7 starting at 7.30 pm in support of the Abbeyleix Golf Club.

Durrow/Cullohill Parish Anglers held their last fishing competition of the season for the Pat Gaughan Memorial Cup. It was a pike fishing competition and the winner was Patrick O’Regan , 2nd Pat Dunphy and 3rd Ian Drennan. The members are now waiting anxiously for the fisherman of the year winner to be announced.

A Table Quiz in aid of Irish Motor Neuron Disease will be held in Peig’s Bar, Portlaois on Wednesday Novenber 20,2013 starting at 8 pm. Table of four costs twenty euro. Spot prizes on the night.

Team Hope Shoebox Appeal
The Team Hope Children’s Shoebox Appeal is underway around the country. Completed shoeboxes can be dropped off in Portlaoise at Axa, the parish centre, Tesco, and TK Maxx; in Abbeyleix at the golf club or library; in Mountmellick at the library or the post office; and in Mountrath at Centra.
The closing date for this year’s appeal is November 11.
