Galmoy primary school parents association are holding a 70km cycle event on Sunday, November 10, starting at 10.30am from Galmoy village. There will also be a 35km cycle and a family cycle of 10km entry is €20 per person. Families doing the 10km will be €20. Hot beverages will be available to anyone who finishes, there will be a cycling celebrity opening the event. For more information phone 087 9578236.


The CYMS hall has now re-opened. All very welcome your support is much appreciated. Membership will also be due adult €20, child €10 and family €30 per year.


Will hold their annual auction on Sunday, November 24 in St. Bernadette’s hall, Errill. This has been a very successful fundraiser for the club so all support would be greatly appreciated. The club will also be selling tickets in the area on the weekend of the 15th/16th November. Great prizes to giveaway the draw will take place on the day of the auction.


Reminder regarding the Rathdowney Vocational School Class of 1973-78 Reunion which is taking place in Rathdowney Golf Club on Saturday November 9, at 8pm. An opportunity to renew old acquaintances and fill in the intervening years. Tickets available from Card Stand, or at the door on the night.


A great Bingo is held every Tuesday Night at 8.30 in the Rathdowney Community Centre. Your support would be greatly appreciated. Bingo is run by the Community Centre Group.

For those interested in some winter training. Turbo training classes has started every Wednesday in the Marion centre at 8pm sharp. The only criteria is that you must have your own turbo trainer, these can be purchased on Done Deal starting for as little as 75 euro upwards. Cost of training one euro per night.

Computer classes for men have started every Wednesday morning 11-1 in the old convent school, catering for all skill levels from beginner’s. Art classes are due to start next week. The men’s shed is open every Thursday morning from 10-2 in the old convent school. New members welcome every week.

Donaghmore Field Day

The Annual Fundraising Event held in Donaghmore on Sunday, October 20 was blessed with fair weather. While most of the surrounding areas experienced very heavy showers, hardly a drop fell on Donaghmore. As a result the large attendance was able to enjoy the various attractions to the full. The organisers would like to thank all those who gave their support which, as always, is very much appreciated. The draw for the raffle also took place on the day and the lucky winners were – 1.. Shoeboxes can be dropped off in Abbeyleix at the golf club or library and in Mountrath at Centra.


Meet on Friday mornings 10-12 in the Marion Centre. All welcome parents and minders with children from new born to pre-school.
