Rosenallis Community Alert met in the community centre on January 9. Conor O’Leary from Muintir na Tíre outlined the aims and objectives of the scheme. The group registered with Muintir na Tíre on the night. In the next month each house in the parish will receive a flyer outlining the group’s aims and objectives, and attached will be a form for each household to join the scheme.
Comhaltas returned to classes on January 7. Classes are busy preparing to play at mass on January 19 in Mountmellick. Also continued success to Darragh Ward whose ballad group is still in the Scór competitions.
Sympathy is offered to the Flanagan/Delaney family on the death of Paddy Delaney, Patrick Street, Mountmellick on December 11, also the Dunne family on the death of Nicholas Dunne, Gurteen on December 13 and the Scully family on the untimely death of Ann Scully, Camira who passed away on December 30. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families at this sad time.
slieve bloom meeting
The Slieve Bloom Association will hold its next meeting on Thursday January 16, ICA Hall Mountmellick at 8.30pm. The group aim to promote the Slieve Bloom Amenity Area, while protecting its unique landscape. Anyone like-minded and interested in joining, is welcomed to the meeting.
