Durrow High Nellies and Bob’s Bar will feature on RTE 1 on Friday night June 6 at 7 pm on the nationwide programme. Ann Cassin and the nationwide camera crew visited Durrow and will feature the High Nellies bringing Ann on a tour of Durrow. This is a wonderful opportunity for Durrow High Nellies and Bob’s Bar to be seen of television. Well done to all concerned.

The parish lotto jackpot is now heading for €15,650 and it would be lovely jackpot to win. On May 26 the jackpot was €15450 and it was not won, small winners were €30 Ann Gilligan, €25 Billy White and €20 Brendan Kelly. The lotto of June 09 will be held in Dec’s Bar with a possible jackpot of €15,650. All tickets must be handed in before 9.30 pm on the night of the draw to be included in that jackpot.
Durrow /Cullohill Parish Anglers held a pike fishing competition for the Christy Finnegan Memorial Cup on Sunday. The winner was Mick Walsh, 2nd Tommy Coffey, 3rd Seanie Delehunty.
Clonohill Gardens Charity Open Day
The annual charity open day at Clonohill Gardens will be held on Sunday, June 8. From 1pm-7pm in aid of Laois Hospice and the new Solas Bhride Centre. Plant sales and afternoon tea will be available. The 1.5 acre garden features: woodland, lawns, herbaceous borders and a walled garden overlooking the lake. Clonohill Gardens are on the Laois Garden Trail and have featured on TV and in the Irish Garden magazine and various print media. Clonohill Gardens are just off the old Dublin/ Limerick Rd, R445 (formerly N7). Between Mountrath and Borris in Ossory. Garden will be signed from the R445 on the day. The annual cemetery mass will be held in Cullohill Graveyard on Friday night June 06 at 8pm. All families with relatives buried in this graveyard are asked to have their grave clean, tidy and colorful for the night mass.
Durrow/Cullohill Parish Anglers
Grantstown Nature Reserve angling Centre and walking trails is now open to the public. The official opening was last week, with Minister for Arts, Heritage and the Gealeacht Jimmy Deenehan in attendance. The angling club thanked Michael G Phelan for the work he did on the lake.
SCARECROW FESTIVAL PHOTO COMPETITION
The senior competition for the Joe Brophy Memorial Cup and the juvenile (U16) competition for the Durrow Development Forum Trophy will once again take place this year. Entry fees are senior €5 and juvenile €3. Maximum print size 10”x 8”. Prints can be mounted but not necessarily. Limit of four photographs per entry. All entries to be presented in an envelope with name of entrant, address and telephone number written on envelope.
