Condolences to the late Margaret (Peggy) Hickey (née Langton) of Ossory St, Rathdowney, who died on October 14 in her 95th year, peacefully at her residence. Predeceased by her husband Danny and her daughter Angela (Kenneally). Deeply regretted by her family Tommy, Rita, Maura, Anne, Michael, Donal and Bridget, relatives and friends. Reposal at her daughter Bridget’s residence, Kilcoran (Golf Links Road), Rathdowney. Removal to the Church of the Holy Trinity, Rathdowney for Funeral mass followed by burial in Bealady cemetery.
The 30th edition of the Rathdowney Review is currently being compiled and will on sale from December 1. Anyone who has anything they wish to be published in the review should contact Betty O Brien, Maureen Guilfoyle or Niall O Doherty. The closing date is the end of October but the committee would appreciate any material to be submitted ASAP.
CYMS snooker and billard hall are hold a Halloween Kids Disco on Friday October 31 from 7 - 10pm in the Parochial Hall. Admission is €3, fancy dress optional, prize for the best dressed. All proceeds to the CYMS snooker club. The club is now re-open for the winter. Membership now due adults €20 juveniles €10, family €30. We look forward to meeting everyone again and for your valued support. The CYMS is now re-open from Monday to Friday 7.30 -10pm with a tournament run every Friday night, membership for families €30, senior €20 and junior €10. The CYMS committee would like to thank the Easyriders for their donation of the club, this will greatly help in the development of the club facilities.
St Fergal’s College Rathdowney is holding an Open Evening for prospective 1st year students and their parents on Thursday October 23, from 5.30 to 8.00pm. Students may be enrolled on the night.

Easyriders had their presentation night on Saturday October 11. Thanks to all who turned up and made it such a great success. Over €14,000 was raised this year and the following donation were made Pieta House €10,000, CYMS Snooker & Billiards Club €2,000, The Cuisle Centre €1,000 and Temple Street Children’s University Hospital €1,000.
Irish classes for adults, spoken Irish for complete beginners to more advance speakers, there will be a registration night in Scoil Bhride on Friday October 31 between 7pm & 8pm. Rathdowney Girl Guides Carol and Claire Stanley will be volunteering in local communities in Pune, Western India as part of an Irish Girl Guide Service Project Team next summer. The service projects, which are co-ordinated from the Girl Guide World Centre ‘Sangam’, include teaching English, promoting and encouraging healthcare for women and children plus helping in the upgrading community centres.
