A huge Thank you to all those who baked for our cake sale and all those who came along to support us, and buy our cakes and breads. We sincerely appreciate all your support, each and every donation and sale. Also thanks to everyone who helped out over the 2 days. we raised 511.10 euros which is fantastic. Rosenallis Athletics Training continues every Thursday from 7pm to 8pm in Johnsgrove Rosenallis.

COMMUNITY GAMES

Clonaslee/Rosenallis Community Games have been busy over the past few months.

In February we had two teams competing in the area table quiz. Teams members were Billy Friel, Chloe Egan, Megan Friel, Shane Farrell, Patrick Hyland, Shay Foynes, Gary Kelly and Mary Conway. Both teams did very well. Thanks to Nicola Friel and Colette Hyland for their help on the night.

In March we competed in basketball and all our teams qualified for the county finals. Our u11 mixed team were unlucky against a more experienced Killenard side. The team was Ciaran Fitzgerald, Darragh Scully, William Cummings, Sean Lee. Josh Flynn, Niamh Horan, Rachel O’Meara, Amy Farrington, Olivia Rigney and Ciara Poole. The u13 girls team fared better ,beating Portarlington to qualify for the regionals.

The team was Sharon Conroy, Caoimhe Foynes, Aislinn McRedmond, Sarah -Jane Purcell, Roisin Scully, Orla Conroy, Rachel Dooley, Eimear Lee, Shauna Mulhall and Roisin O’Donovan. Congratulations girls and good luck in the upcoming regionals!! The u16 girls team played a very exciting and close match against Portarlington and were unlucky to lose in the end. The team was Ciara Kelly, Niamh Conroy, Rebecca Rigney, Eimear Dunne, Chloe Breen, Ciara Lee, Erin Murray, Amy Loughman, Mollie Senior and Aoife Hyland.Sincere thanks to Lucy, Grace, Grainne, Becky, Edel, Mags and everybody from Clonaslee Basketball Club who helped in any way. Thanks to all our parents for their support.

In March we also held our area art competition and we wish to acknowledge the help received from the local schools in both parishes.

The winners were asked to redraw their pictures and they were sent on to county level for judging. The results are not available as yet but our local winners were; Girls u8 1. Eimear Kelly. 2. CLEAN UP LAOIS WEEK

Clean up Laois week is on from Monday 16 to 20 April 2012. Pick Up Clean ups for that week  will be organised in the four areas of Rosenallis.  The village on Wednesday 18th April at 7pm at St.Brigid’s Church.

Clonaheen on Sunday 15th April at 5pm at Clonaheen Hall. Capard and Reary we are asking young and old to come out and help us please call to organise a litter pick up, also young members of the community will receive a certificate which they can use to support their school Green Flag projects.  Please call 0876197133 if you would like to arrange to meet in any of the areas.  We hope you

GREEN SCHOOL SCRAP

The Green School Committee is giving you the opportunity to get rid of your unwanted scrap metal and batteries. The delivery depots are Shaw’s Garage. Rosenallis or Albert Thompson’s yard in Cappalough.

Should you need your scrap collected, please call Billy Shaw on 086 2566006 or Albert Thompson on 087 2624840 to arrange a suitable time. All proceeds go towards Green School Refurbishment Fund.
