A committee of people whose families have been effected by suicide formed in the village recently and hope to raise some much needed funds for the charity through their walk.

“We chose Pieta House as they are trying to get a centre for the Midlands,” explained founder, Fintan Gorman.

“We also hope to put in a memorial bench in the village in the future,” he said.

The five kilometre walk will take place on Sunday, July 8 at 6pm. The walk, which the committee have a called a “walk and talk” will start from Goode’s Pub. Refreshments will be served in Goode’s after the walk.

A thought box and candles in memory of all those who have died will be lit beside St Brigid’s Well, beside the Rose Cafe. The committee also hope that the parish priest will perform a special blessing on the walk.
