The annual mass for deceased Portlaoise Prison staff will be celebrated on Thursday, November 8 at 7.30pm in SS Peter and Paul’s Church.


There was no winner of the Portlaoise Parish lotto jackpot worth €20,000 when the numbers were drawn on Thursday, November 1. The numbers drawn were 01,20,22,27. The Match 3s received €200 each. This week’s jackpot is €20,000.

The Portlaoise Committee would like to thank all those who donated to and helped with their recent bag packing in Dunnes Stores. The money raised will go towards food/fuel for families in need. The Church Gate Collection for will take place on Sat/Sun 10/11 and Sat/Sun 17/18. Your generous support would again be greatly appreciated.


The Pioneer Total Abstinence Association would like to thank you for your support in their recent church gate collection. The funds will be used to promote temperance among teenagers. Condolences to the family of the late Martin ‘Murt’ Phelan of (Higgins Park, Portlaoise and late of Naas) who died suddenly on Wednesday, October 31 at Portlaoise hospital, Beloved husband of June and devoted dad to Jacqueline, Siobhan, Geraldine, Theo and Carol, Martin is also deeply regretted by his loving family, sisters, extended family relatives and friends. Reposed in the hospital Chapel of Rest at Hospital with removal last Friday to SS Peter and Paul’s Church for Requiem Mass. Interment afterwards in SS Peter and Paul’s Cemetery. Donations if desired to the Irish Heart Foundation.


Condolences to the family of the late Seamus ‘Jim’ Weldon of Ballydavis, Portlaoise and formerly Hillcrest, Nurney who died on October 29. Deeply regretted by his wife Maureen, sons Richard, Jim and Adrian, daughters Geraldine (McDonald) and Martha, sister Nancy, brother Bernard (Son), grandchildren, relatives and friends. Reposed at the home of his son Richard in Lackagh, Monasterevin with removal to the Carmelite Church, Kildare for Funeral Mass last Wednesday, Burial afterwards in St. Conleth’s Cemetery, Kildare.


Condolences to the family of the late James ‘Jim’ Ryan who passed away peacefully at his residence at the Old Road, Ballydavis, on November 1. Beloved husband of Anne and dearly loved father to Mary, Noreen, John, Martin, Ann-Marie, Patricia, James, and Liam Jim is also deeply regretted sister Mary Sheeran extended family relatives and friends. Reposed at his residence with Removal to the Church of the Assumption, The Heath for Requiem Mass last Saturday, followed by Interment in the adjoining church yard.
