The Easter ceremonies in the Clonenagh group of Parishes are as follows: Tuesday, March 26: Annatrim 8pm; Wednesday, March 27; Borris in Ossory 8pm; Thursday, March 28: Mountrath 8pm; Good Friday: Walking with the Cross from the Hollow to Roskelton commencing at 10am, The Last Hour Mountrath 2pm, Lacca Service at 8pm, Holy Saturday: Annatrim Service and Communion at 7pm, Easter Sunday: Seir Kieran 7am, Borris in Ossory 8.15am, Roskelton 9.30am, Lacca 10.30am, Mountrath 11.30am.


6th Laois Mountrath Scout Group annual cake sale will take place Easter Saturday, March 30, in St Fintans Hall Mountrath at 7pm.

There will also be a raffle on the night for a big food hamper and many more prizes. Your support would be greatly appreciated.

Camera Club

The Mountrath and District Camera Club would like to extend many thanks to the owners of the premises in which the club displayed their fine work in Mountrath over the St Patrick’s Day/Weekend celebrations. Our next meeting is Tuesday, March 26 in METAC at 9pm. There is no theme, just bring along all your equipment for an informal chat, a ‘show and tell’ evening. This is a good opportunity to get to know fellow members better and for new members to come join in the fun!

A race night will be held in Newbridge greyhound track on Saturday May 4 tickets now available at €20 for family, €10 for a adult and €5 for students A 80-s style disco in Mountrath Golf Club on Saturday April 20 in aid of our Club and the Christmas lights fund,tickets are €10, tickets available from any committee member. The Mountrath Support group will hold there next meeting on Wednesday April 13 in the Cosy Cafe Mountrath at 8pm. All are welcome. New members welcome at any time.


The sale of jam continues in Costcutters and Phelan’s Shop Castletown. We would like to thank everyone for their support for this worthy cause buying jam donating fruit and jars. The sale of jam contines in these shops.


Training for girls Gaelic football has resumed and will be held every Friday in St Aengus Soccer Pitch on The New Line Road from 4pm-5.15 pm. All girls aged 5yrs - 14 yrs are very welcome. We are delighted to welcome back our existing members and are keen to encourage new members from Mountrath & the surrounding areas to join our Ladies Football Club. It is a great way to get fit & to have fun and learn a new skill. We look forward to participating in Mountrath St. Patrick’s Day Parade. Any queries, please contact 0851119550.


The knitting club continues to meet every Friday morning 10:30-12:30pm all welcome.


The outdoor gym in the local amenity park can be used by all ages. We would encourage all local clubs and groups to
