Following up after the “Dirty old Towns” programme ended last Summer 2012, the committee continued finishing projects that were not highlighted on the programme. One of these projects was the landscaping of the 3 roundabouts in the town. The first roundabout was at Odlums. Lidl head office in Newbridge came back to us with sponsorship to landscape the 3 roundabouts. At this stage now we have completed 2 of the roundabouts and in the coming weeks we will finish with the McMahons roundabout on the Edenderry road.
A big thanks also goes to Stephanie Lewis from Corrig, who raised money during the programme to do something special in the town. The Maher family kindly agreed to moving the monument of their deceased family from the Park to a lovely location near their family home. It was then removed from the park by Nettie Emerson and by the family’s request only the center piece was restored and put into place. A tree was placed in the plot and Stephanie wants to call this a “Wishing Tree”. It is not possible to name everyone but the committee would like to thank everyone who has helped in any way as we finish up with these projects.
