ANNUAL HALLOWEEN WITCH WALK

It’s that time of year again for Stradbally Youth Centre’s annual witch walk in Oakvale Woods. It will be held on Saturday, October 26 from 2-4pm.

Lots of fun to be had with lots of chocolate apples and sweets and even prizes. Special prize for his/her best costume. Everyone welcome. €3 to enter.

THE LATE MARGARET MOLLOY

The death has occurred on Saturday October 12 of Margaret (Peggy) Molloy Main Street, Stradbally, Laois suddenly at her residence. The late Peggy is survived by her sister Maise Moll, Cardiff, Wales, the Whelan family, Market Square, Stradbally and a large circle of friends and her remains were reposing at Tom and Bernie”s residence Market Square, Stradbally from Friday until removal on Saturday morning to The Sacred Heart Church, Stradbally and following requiem mass interment took place afterwards in Oakvale Cemetery.

LATE MARY CATHERINE SCULLY

The death occurred on October 11 of Mary Catherine Scully (nee Langton), The Village, Timahoe, Co. Laois, peacefully in the loving care of the staff of Ballard Lodge Nursing Home, surrounded by her loving family. Mary Catherine, beloved wife of the late John and dearly loved mother to Anna Grennan, Josephine Duff and Séan. Deeply regretted by her loving family, sister-in-law Josie Langton, sons-in-law, Pauline, nephews, nieces, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, relatives and friends. Her remains were reposing at the chapel of rest, The Regional Hospital, Portlaoise, until removal on Saturday evening, to St Michael’s Church, Timahoe, and following requiem mass at 10.30am on Sunday interment took place afterwards in SS Peter and Paul’s Cemetery, Portlaoise.

FLOWER AND GARDEN CLUB

Stradbally Flower and Garden Club are joining with Team Hope to take part in the Christmas Shoe Box Appeal. Boxes will be taken from now until November 6 and can be given to Vera Donohue or Dorrie Moran or to any member of the club.

BUS TO CLONFERT

NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH MEETING

A meeting of the Stradbally Neighbourhood Watch will be held on this Wednesday night, October 23 commencing at 7.30pm in St Mary’s Hall.

TABLE QUIZ CANCELLATION

The table quiz due to take place on November 1 at St Patrick’s Hall, Stradbally has had to be cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances. A new date will be made known in the near future.

DRAMA WORKSHOPS FOR ADULTS

STEAM TRAINS

Stradbally Woodland Express Railway steam train will be up and running on Sunday and Monday, October 27 and 28 from 1pm-4pm each day. Fares children €2, adults €6.

STRADBALLY YOUTH THEATRE

Stradbally Youth Theatre start back in St Patrick’s Hall this Saturday 2-4pm. All new members aged 12-18yrs welcome. No experience necessary. For more information, call the Arts Office in Laois County Council or Siobhán on 086 3300943.

CHURCH GATE COLLECTION

A church gate collection for the Salesian Missions will be taken up at all masses next weekend October 26 and 27. Your continued support would be appreciated.

CYSTIC FIBROSIS

Mary and Maria Daly wish to thank everyone who donated, volunteered or contributed in any way to making their pop-up shop for Cystic Fibrosis Ireland such a success. An amazing €18,600 was raised for which they are really grateful.
