Members of Borris in Ossory ICA will be filling shoeboxes for the Team Hope Christmas Children’s Shoebox Appeal in St Canice’s Hall on Thursday November 7. Anyone wishing to donate items for the shoeboxes can do so by contacting any ICA member. This is a very deserving charity which provides Christmas gifts to needy children abroad who might not otherwise receive a visit from Santa Claus.
Borris-in-Ossory ICA members are continuing their course of armchair pilates on Wednesday nights in St Canice’s Hall, starting at 8pm. These exercises are not too intensive or not too strenuous but are very beneficial to those taking part.
At the meeting held on Thursday October 10, Fergal Fitzpatrick gave a demonstration on hard wood cuttings, followed by a general talk on garden preparation for next year.
Margaret Ryan gave a demonstration on the making of decorative boxes from used cards.
The raffle winners were 1st Bridget Gorman, 2nd Ina Keeshan, 3rd Margaret Keenan.
The next meeting will be held on Thursday November 21 in St Canice’s Hall at 8pm.
A demonstration on the making of Christmas arrangements will be given on the night.
New members are always welcome.
An open evening for prospective first year students and their parents will be held in St Fergal’s College, Rathdowney on Thursday October 24 from 5.30pm to 8pm. A short presentation will be made at 7.30pm. Students may be enrolled on the night.
Adoration of the blessed sacrament takes place each Tuesday in St Canice’s Church, Borris in Ossory from 10am to 3pm. Adoration takes place in Killasmeestia Church on Thursdays from 9.30am to 3pm and in Knockaroo Church on Tuesdays between 2pm and 4pm. Anyone is welcome to come along and spend some time in the presence of the blessed sacrament.
A choir practice will take place in St Canice’s Church, Borris in Ossory on Wednesday October 23 for members of the four choirs in the parish. This practice is for the Parish DVD.
A new seven week course of pilates will commence in St Joseph’s NS, Borris in Ossory on Thursday November 7 at 7.15pm. Beneficial in toning and losing weight, core conditioning. Also aids recovery from injury and injury prevention. Booking for the course is essential as places are limited.

Two (beginner and intermediate) six week courses of computer lessons for adults will commence in Ballaghmore Hall in the near future. Anyone interested please contact Marjorie at Phelan’s Shop, Ballaghmore or call Grant at 087 7721424.
Following the success of last year’s art course, a further five week course will commence later this month. The classes will be on either Monday or Wednesday nights and the cost will be €40 per person. Anyone interested should text their name to Marjorie at 089 4646673.
The hall in St Joseph’s National School, Borris in Ossory is now available for renting by various groups for the coming months. Any group/individuals who wish to avail of the hall must have their own insurance.
