It’s time to put on those glass slippers, as the first charity gala ball in aid of The Cuisle Centre gets set to take place in the Heritage Hotel Portlaoise.
The ball has been organised by Mountmellick lady Janet Stewart, who chose the cancer support centre for personal reasons.
“Within the last year I lost two close relatives to cancer. Firstly my dad’s brother and on the day of his funeral we got the sad news that my mother’s sister had been diagnosed also. Sadly she died within seven weeks and our family were devastated. All my close relations have been hit over the last few years,” she said.
“I have found the Cuisle Centre to be a place of great comfort and calm when all around my head is in chaos. The work they do in the centre is fantastic,” she added.
She got plenty of tips from organisers of the hugely successful annual charity ball in Portarlington.
The Portlaoise ball will also feature the Keith McDonald Showband, ensuring everyone will have a ball, while Jo Jordan of Dublin Housewives will be the glamorous special guest, and there will be a raffle of luxurious prizes, with top prize a beautiful Finline Furniture chair valued at €1,100.
The night will kick off with pre-dinner drinks at 7pm.
The ball will be officially launched this Sunday night October 27 in The Druid pub, Mountmellick.
“Gerry is giving us the night to promote the ball and sell raffle tickets. Music on the night is by ‘Honest Can’ with free admission and a free door prize raffle,” said Janet.
Tickets are €50, now available from the Cuisle Centre, or by calling Janet at 086 2737146,or Sinead Ryan at 057 8684696. Black tie not essential.
