The Park Ratheniska GAA club would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank each and every volunteer who helped out over the course of last week National Ploughing Championships. Many wondered could the event top last years wonderful occasion, but it seems the general consensus that this years festival outstripped it and some. We can’t thank all our volunteers enough for their hard work, commitment and dedication, you are a credit to not only yourselves to our small community and a testament to what can be achieved in the name of local pride.
We are delighted to be able to contribute to the smooth running of this event and do as much as we can to boost our coffers. While all of our volunteers both in the juvenile and adult club deserve huge credit, it would be wrong not to pay special mention to our Chairman Jim Morrin and Treasurer Christy Fingleton who did so much. We thank everybody and, who knows, maybe we’ll be in touch again in 12 months time.
Congrats to Sarah Brody of Derrygarron, Portlaoise who was the winner of our Park Engineering Shed which the Club raffled off during the course of last weeks National Ploughing Championships. In what was a hugely successful venture we would like to thank Park Engineering for their generous help during the Championships and to all those who purchased tickets off our enthusiastic sellers.
We remind our supporters that matters have moved back to the playing fields since the Ploughing ended, and this Sunday at 4pm in O’Moore Park, our Intermediate Hurlers will compete for the Laois Intermediate Hurling Championship trophy. Last week saw the Community pull together in the most magnificent way and we’d love to see you all do so again on Sunday as our hurlers go in search of silverware! So get your flags and bunting out, Park/Ratheniska are in the county final.
