Dr Trish Murphy will give a talk titled ‘Mental Health and Relationships’ in the Heritage Hotel, Portlaoise on Wednesday, October 8 at 7pm as part of Laois Connect and Portlaoise Healthy Towns,

“When we begin to talk to others, we discover that instead of being the only person who has a messy internal life, we are in fact on a continuum of mental health that most people are on or have been on at some stage. Immediately, we relax and begin opening up to the experience and learning that is available right on our doorsteps,” writes in this week’s Leinster Express..

The week also features a memorial talks in recognition of Kathleen Gorman contribution to promoting mental health awareness. Dr Fergus Heffernan, Psychologist and Family Therapist will talk on ‘Creating Resilience in Challenging Times’ on Tuesday, October 7 (tonight) at 7pm in Abbeyleix Manor. All members of the public are welcome

Laois Connects is being held in conjunction with Laois Mental Health Collaborative group which consists of a number of partners. These are: HSE, Laois Sports Partnership, Mental Health Ireland, Laois County Council, Laois Partnership Company and Laois/Offaly ETB. It is supported by the Leinster Express.
