The Parish lotto had a jackpot of €3,700. Prize winners were Mary Kelly (€30), Paddy O’Hara (€25) and Ray Campion (€20). The Lotto draw of March 02 will be held in Peadar’s Bar, Durrow with a possible jackpot of €4,000. All tickets must be handed in before 9.30 pm on the night of the draw to be included in that jackpot.
The Ossory Pilgrimage to Lourdes 2015 under the patronage of the most Rev. Seamus Freeman SAC, Bishop of Ossory takes place from May 22nd to May 27th 2015. The cost is €755 PPS. Opening hours are Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10am to 2.30pm, Fridays from 9.15am to 12.15pm. Closed on Wednesdays.
Durrow Community Council are organising the Senior Citizen’s Party which will be held on Saturday 7th March in The Castle Arms Hotel, commencing at 2pm with meal served at 2.30pm. Invitations will be issued shortly. Anyone wishing to attend or if anyone knows of somebody who would like to attend but have not received an invitation you are very welcome to come, just notify any committee member. The death took place on February 02 of Nancy Aylward, Patrick Street, Durrow following a short illness. A member of a highly respected and much loved family in the area the late Nancy Aylward will be sadly missed by her Family, friends and a large circle of friends and neighbours. The Aylward family came to Durrow in the late nineteen fifties and has been involved in many organisations throughout the town. Nancy is survived by her loving husband Mick, son’s Micheal, P.J and Sean, daughters Bridget, Helen and Anne, Brother Dick, Sister-in –law, Sons-in-law, Daughters-in-law, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and a large circle of friends. The large attendance at her wake in her son’s (PJ) house, at the removal to Holy Trinity Church, Durrow, at Requiem Mass and burial was a testament to the high esteem the Aylward family are held in the locality and to offer to Mick and his family their hearth felt sympathy at the death of Nancy. May she rest in peace.
Get Fit this Year
Lots of individuals are jogging/walking at present to maintain fitness and improve their lifestyle a lot. Large numbers are using the walking loops in the local woods to walk in a safe and secure environment. A 10k road race will be held Sunday 26th of April at the Golf Club in Thurles.
The death took place on Monday February 09 in Droimnin Nursing Home, Stradbally, after a short Illness of Mrs Annie Brandon, Swan Road, Durrow and formally of Stradbally, Co Laois. Predeceased by her husband Edward, Mrs Brandon came to live in Durrow some fourteen years ago and became a much loved and valued member of the community. Annie will be sadly missed by her family, her neighbours and friends. Annie is survived by her son Pat, daughter Marie, son in law Liam, daughter in law Kathleen, godson John, grandchildren, great grandchildren, relatives and a large circle of friends. The large attendance at her wake in her home at Swan road, her removal to Holy Trinity Church, Durrow for requiem Mass and burial in Oakvale Cemetery, Stradbally was a testament to the high regard the people of Durrow and Stradbally had for Annie and to offer to Pat and Marie and their families their heartfelt sympathy at the death of their mother. May she rest in peace.
The Annual St Patrick’s Day Parade in Durrow organised by the Durrow Development Forum has been postponed for 2015 owing to the sheer volume of roadworks ongoing around the Square and the streets in the town. The parade will be back, bigger and better than ever in 2016!

The Harps GAA Club held its AGM on Sunday 11th January last in The Castle Arms Hotel. The meeting was well attended with over 50 present on the night.
