On Sunday April 15 at the Great Ireland Run in the Phoenix Park, Dublin, Ballyroan Abbeyleix & Districts masters men became All-Ireland champions in the M40+ (over 40 men) category. The trio of Tony Reilly, Martin McDonald, and PJ Carroll beat the best Ireland could throw at them on the day to record the club’s first ever All Ireland team success. They were ably assisted on the day by Tim Churchouse who in his first year running competitively is improving hugely. The gold medals did not end there as Tony Reilly won the over 40 section outright to claim individual gold continuing his superb form all season. Martin McDonald did likewise in the M55 category as he pcked up yet another individual gold. For the club to win 5 All Ireland gold medals in the one day is a unique achievment that the club can be rightly proud of.
