The summer reading challenge is underway and will continue until August 31. To complete the challenge children must read 6 books before the end date and collect stickers along the way. At the end of the summer successful readers will be presented with a gold medal. Register at the library desk.
The book chosen for the August meeting of the Adult Book Club is The Orange Mocha-Chip Frappuccino Years by Ross O’Carroll-Kelly. The club meets on the 1st Thursday of every month and new members are always welcome.

Various members and volunteers of Mountrath Tidy Towns committee, which is a sub-committee of Mountrath Development Association, will be meeting every Thursday evening at the car park on Main Street at 7pm, weather permitting, for a quick tidy up of the town. This usually involves picking up litter and keeping an eye on areas which might need a more thorough cleanup by our local Fás scheme participants. All are welcome to come along for the odd half hour or so from 7pm to 8pm.
OLD TIME DANCING
Every Sunday night in Portlaoise GAA Centre from 9.30pm to 11.30pm for only €7. Music will be supplied by Checkers this coming Sunday night, July 29.
The outdoor gym in the local amenity park can be used by all ages. We would encourage all local clubs and groups to use this facility.
