The annual Ard Eireann Festival Walk will take place on Sunday, July 29. Anyone who is interested is welcome to come and we will meet at the Poet’s Cottage, Camross at 2pm. This ancient festival was revived by the Slieve Bloom Association last year after many years’ absence from the calendar of yearly events. There will be refreshments and entertainment after the walk, as well as the launch of the restored Glenkitt Well. The work was done by association members as part of our ongoing voluntary efforts to maintain and promote the Slieve Bloom Mountain area.

The next meeting of the Slieve Bloom Association will be held in the Green School, Mountmellick on Thursday, July 16 at 8.30pm, the venue to be decided. The venue for the annual tour, on the last weekend in August, will be confirmed at the meeting. Anyone interested in preserving, yet promoting the heritage of the Slieve Bloom area is welcome to attend, we are always looking for new members.
